Opening Your Pool in Spring, Step by Step
As soon as temperatures rise, the urge to swim is never far. But a successful opening takes a little method. Here are the steps we recommend to our customers to get off to a good start.
An opening in four stages
Take your time: rushed water often turns green. Start by removing the cover and cleaning it before storing it, so it dries and keeps well.
- Clean: remove leaves and debris, brush the walls and check the condition of the liner.
- Restart: put the plugs and accessories back, then start the pump and filter.
- Test the water: measure acidity, chlorine and hardness with a reliable test kit.
- Adjust: correct the values gradually, without adding everything at once.
Then let the filtration run several hours a day and retest the water after a few days. Clarity often returns faster than you would imagine.
