People often think of changing the lock, but a door is a whole system. Its strength depends on several elements working together. Here is what we look at first during a visit.

The links to check

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. It is therefore useful to examine each element.

The lock: is it in good condition, does it work without forcing?
The strike plate: the piece fixed to the frame should be firmly screwed in with long enough screws.
The hinges: they should not wobble or loosen.
The frame and the door: cracked or worn wood weakens the whole.
The keys: know how many copies exist and who holds them.

A lock change is called for after a move, a lost key or when someone who had access to your home is no longer welcome. It is a simple step that brings real peace of mind.

Do not wait for an incident to ask yourself the question. Ask us for an assessment, and we will tell you what deserves improvement and what can wait, without pushing you toward needless spending.
