Why Light Changes Everything in Photography

If you ask us the secret of a beautiful photo, we will almost always answer: light. More than the camera, more than the setting, it gives an image its atmosphere and flatters, or not, your face.

The moments we favor

A low sun, early in the morning or late in the day, creates a soft, warm light that shapes forms without hardening features. At noon the sun is high and casts strong shadows under the eyes. In that case we look for open shade, for example under a large tree or beside a wall.

  • Overcast sky: an excellent ally, acting like an enormous natural diffuser.
  • Window light: perfect for portraits and indoor sessions.
  • Backlight: it creates lovely glows when handled well.
  • Extra lighting: we add it only when natural light is not enough.

This is why we sometimes suggest a time that surprises you. Getting up a little earlier or finishing in the evening often gives a much better result.

Have a place in mind? Tell us, and we will visit it beforehand to see where the light falls.
