Buying a First Property: Where to Begin
A first home purchase is exciting, but also a little dizzying. Between showings, paperwork and decisions to make, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Taking it step by step makes the whole journey much simpler.
The main steps to follow
- Clarify your needs: number of bedrooms, neighbourhood, distance to work, outdoor space.
- Separate must-haves from nice-to-haves: what is non-negotiable and what is a bonus.
- Meet your lender to learn your real borrowing capacity before you start visiting.
- Plan for additional costs: inspection, legal fees, moving, small repairs.
During showings, take notes and photos. After four or five properties, the details blur together. Visit at different times of day, too, to notice the noise, the traffic and the natural light.
My role is to guide you at every step, answer your questions without jargon and help you decide at your own pace. No question is too simple: ask them all.
