Storing Your Seasonal Clothes the Right Way
When the season changes, we tuck winter coats or light dresses away at the back of the closet. This is the right moment to make sure they will be back in perfect condition next year.
Rule number one: never store a dirty garment. A stain that is invisible today, such as a bit of sugar, perspiration or grease, can yellow over time and become very hard to remove. Residues also attract insects that damage fibers.
Our storing routine
- Have clothes cleaned before putting them away
- Let them air out and dry completely
- Use sturdy hangers for blazers and coats
- Favor breathable garment bags over sealed plastic
Plastic traps moisture and can cause odors or mold. A fabric cover lets air circulate while protecting from dust.
Also avoid overloading the closet: clothes packed too tightly wrinkle and lose their shape. Leave a bit of space between hangers.
When the time comes to take them out again, they will be ready to wear. Stop by before packing your boxes: we will advise you on what deserves professional cleaning.
