Sam Bergeron
Eighteen years in the trade. Sam learned from an old-school 3rd Avenue barber who refused appointments and cut with comb and scissors, period. He opened Le Cinquième Fauteuil in 2016 with the same rule: no one leaves with a cut they didn't ask for.
Specialty: razor fades and traditional shaves. He also trains two apprentices — $20 cuts on Tuesdays if you want to give it a try.
Four rules
since 2016
-
01
We listen before we cut
Nobody leaves with a cut they didn't ask for. We talk first, the clippers can wait.
-
02
The wait is real
The board at the door shows the real wait. If it's 40 minutes, we tell you, and you go grab a coffee.
-
03
The blade for the edges
Neck, cheeks and beard lines are done with a straight razor, like at the barber where Sam learned.
-
04
Prices on the wall
Every service has its price posted. No extra charge for long hair or for a particular barber.
Four barbers
Five chairs, four barbers. The fifth chair belongs to the apprentices: $20 cuts on Tuesdays, under Sam's eye.
